Worcestershire's First Historian: Thomas Habington of Hindlip (1560–1647)

By Don Gilbert

ISBN 9781912078158

It is often remarked, as an established fact, that Dr Treadway Nash is the historian of Worcestershire, just as Sir William Dugdale is the historian of Warwickshire. However, in reality, the first historian of Worcestershire was Thomas Habington of Hindlip whose work was probably not published due to the upheavals of the Civil War. This book aims to set the record straight and presents Habington’s Survey of Worcestershire as the first historical and topographical study of the county.
