The Duncan family are on their way to the Virgin Islands, to visit Mrs Duncan’s sister, when a sudden, mysterious storm sends their plane crashing onto a desert island in the Caribbean. 

Believing they are alone on the island, the Duncans concentrate on surviving until they are rescued. However, one night the muffled sounds of a lone drum are heard, convincing them that the island is not as deserted as it had seemed . . .

This is the first installment of a series of adventures featuring the Duncan twins, their friend Yuma, and their dog, Nell. The friends soon discover that their stay on the island has affected them in amazing and undreamt of ways.
